Sunday, we went to the Strawberry Festival in Pasadena with Eric's parents. There were lots of vendors, great food, games, and fun stuff for kids. Brady was tired and stayed in the stroller most of the day, but we still had a great time. And of course we bought a bunch of strawberries. Karen invited us and asked if I would make jam with her. I had no clue how to make jam, but I really wanted to learn. Turns out it's easy and a lot of fun! I will definitely try to do this every year if I can. Eric took some good pics :)
We boiled and sterilized all the jars and lids. Cleaned, cut, and mashed up the strawberries. Measured out 7 cups of sugar for each batch... :0 Then boiled the sugar and strawberries. Add a tablespoon of butter, and one packet of pectin (turns it into jelly). Jar it up and you've got jam! It turned out absolutely delicious and I have several jars to give to family. Karen and I had a lot of fun and I'm so glad she asked me to join her.
